Questions parents and beginners ask

Everything you want to know about lessons, exams, recitals and getting started, before you pick up the phone.

Before you book

Common questions, answered plainly

We get these questions from Calgary families and adult beginners every week. If yours isn't here, give us a call.

Still have a question?

Call us or send a message and we'll talk you through it.

Is it too late for my child, or for me, to start lessons?

No. We teach complete beginners through to advanced students, and we welcome both children and adult beginners. Every lesson is one-to-one, so your teacher starts exactly where you are.

What instruments do you teach?

Piano, guitar, voice, drums and violin, all taught one-to-one by experienced teachers.

Are lessons private or group classes?

All lessons are one-to-one with an experienced teacher, so your child or you get full attention every week.

Do I need an instrument at home before the first lesson?

You'll want access to your instrument to practise between lessons. If you're not sure what to get, ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.

Do you prepare students for music exams?

Yes. We offer Royal Conservatory exam preparation for students who want to work toward a grade, alongside students who are learning just for enjoyment.

Do students get to perform?

Yes. We hold recitals twice a year, giving every student a chance to play or sing in front of family and friends.

How long are lessons and what do they cost?

Lessons run 30 or 45 minutes. A 30-minute lesson is $38 and a 45-minute lesson is $52.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Friday, 2pm to 9pm, and Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
